Backcountry Ski or Snowshoe Tours
Join Ashalyn or Robin Kohn for our fun, invigorating back country snowshoe and telemark ski tours. Robin’s all-day Winter Awareness Clinic will teach you how to appropriately prepare for a winter trip and create a safe, fulfilling experience once you arrive.
DATES: Winter tours are offered daily from November thru June, weather permitting, as long as there is snow on the ground!
Snowshoe Sacred Site Treks with Ashalyn: Treks may include guided meditations, toning, learning to communicate with the nature spirits, inspired poetry, intuitive messages received from Spirit, local myths, legends and history.
Snowshoe Guided Vision Quests with Ashalyn: A 7- hour journey for 1 or 2 individuals designed to focus specifically on your personal spiritual needs and desires at one or more local sacred sites. Journey includes all of the above (Sacred Site Treks) and more. In depth transformational healing, awareness and understanding with great fun is the intended goal.
Back Country Telemark Ski Trips with Robin:For beginning, intermediate and advanced skiers. This trip is a wonderful opportunity to put your thoughts aside and be fully present in the magnificence of nature.
Beginning: These outings are designed to introduce you to cross-country or Telemark skiing. You will learn how to be in the elements of nature, conserve energy and break trail, as well as the basics of climbing, side stepping, kick turning, duck walking, downhill techniques, and using skins.
Intermediate and Advanced: Robin will introduce you to the incredible back-country of Mount Shasta and bring you back safely to your point of origin. Extent of the journey depends on your stamina, skill level, personal intention and snow conditions.
WINTER AWARENESS CLINIC with Wilderness Guide, Robin Kohn: An all day training in which you will learn how to appropriately prepare for a winter trip and what to do for a safe, fulfilling experience once you arrive. Such topics as equipment, how to dress, what to eat and drink, familiarity with the area, weather, use of a map and compass, what to do if you get lost or in an emergency, how to deal with injuries, how to prevent winter illnesses such as frostbite, dealing with hypothermia and altitude sickness, reading terrain, and avalanche awareness will be covered.
